Leadership

In the reading it describes many different types of leadership theories and styles.

One of the theories is the trait theory of leadership, which suggests that leaders are born not created. I disagree with this theory because I believe that can be made, though I also believe that there are some leaders that are born.

Another theory in the book is called the charismatic leadership theory. It states that leaders emerge in times of crisis and turmoil such as MLK, Churchill, and many others. In the book it states they "fulfill the unmet emotional needs of their completely trusting, overly dependant followers" These leaders are very influential, the may be influential for good or bad.

The book also talks about a few styles of leadership. The one I connect with is the democratic style. I like this style because I like to take in others Ideas, and make sure they feel needed. It also allows me to take in ideas that I may have not thought of.

Professional Development

Professional Development is important because it allows for us to grow and be better at at our jobs. It allows for us to gain for more skills. New knowledge is coming out all the time, we need to keep our self's updated. For example cpr has changed many time in the past few years. Also we need to keep up with knowledge that we may have forgotten because we don't practice them regularly like our first aid training.

We can get Professional development in many different places such as regional conferences, reading journals, and attending trainings.

outdoor adventure

Outdoor and Adventure Ed is an important part in EE. Its a totally different environment than regular classroom activities. It often involves character building activities, team building, endurance, and time to grow personally.

Leadership is often a big part of this. It is a great environment for leaders to experiment and learn for others.

In the later end of our inactive it became more successful. As time just kept running out we just hurried along to finish. It was pretty lame that in the beginning that we we not paying to much attention that we lost our boards. As time restrictions crunch upon us often we wait until the last moment to act and that is not the most efficient way to do it for sure. If we have a plan and just follow it it would be more efficient.
